Oh no! It’s NOOOOOO…vember. This is not my favorite month for many reasons, one of which is that my seasonal affective disorder (SAD) goes into high gear down an icy slope on top of everything else I deal with. The days are shorter and most are gray, and I feel sad. I reflect on the past year only to realize nothing that happened has made any sense at all. Turns out I am just older, grumpier and don’t care who knows it. Get off my snowbank.
The one bright spot is Native American Heritage month in which we celebrate our Nations Cultures and shining Indigenous artists and celebrities who have achieved many goals they worked hard for and receive the acknowledgement they deserve all year round. Now that, I love to hear or read about. I gotta get me some stamps and send out fan letters to let them know they are amazing and appreciated.
I am happy to write that there are so many of these people that there’s no space to list them all but I am proud of them for representing and burning away the old, nasty stereotypes we all grew up with. And no, I will not list those racist, disgusting lies here, collectively we shall sing and dance, paint, create and write them all away. We know who are as a People, the Original inhabitants of Turtle Island and that fact cannot be disputed or taken away from us.
Happy Native Turtle Island Heritage Month! Our Rezberry Nation is celebrating with appearances by prominent Native talents on the 2nd and continuing to welcome all non-indigenous people to enjoy the Rezberry Risky Raccoons Burrow Kasino many amenities. Please come and stay, and donate even if it’s one nickel at a time. It all helps the Band Members and our many complicated kinships. I can’t leave out there is a golf course too where the hazards have real bears and suchlike. Good times yooz!
Gaawiin (no) I am not a spokes-Native but I have worked for Rezberry Nation in several different departments but I am now disabled and the only occupation I could manage is being a door stop lying on a gurney. I still have skills. Not to brag but certainly more than a lot of Indians who work for the Nation. See now, even though I was born there I lived most of my nine lives in Big Cities and rules are different here in Rezberry.
Not unlike the bigger world’s use of nepotism here. Unless you are of the Pink People with college degrees Indians pick and choose who they want to hire or fire depending on who we are related to; not actual qualifications to perform the job. Thanks, no thanks you devious colonists! You set us up so our governing bodies would never come to terms with one another just like your own twisted pyramidal system of power.
Until we return to any semblance of our pre-discovery (Ish!) ways of being we will always be fighting like the invaders planned out for us. Like keeping us all angry and restless so we can’t coalesce and evict the pink ones for past rent due. We never gave away our homelands, no, they stole it by any crooks and means. Yanno? My ancestors were not “Indian Givers” they just thought that the squatters were as honorable as they were. I, however, will be an Indian named Take Back Our Homelands!!! Ahyeeeeee!!!
Ahh! That felt good. Gotta let out the warrior yell now and then yanno? WE ARE STILL HERE!!! Y’all hairy pink beings who were the last to leave the caves better remember that. Not a threat, no, facts. That brings me to this point: there are stupid and deliberately ignorant ugly racist politicians who refuse to acknowledge or believe that this land is for ‘Americans’ only and #45’s administration, should he win (Bwah-ha-ha-hah!!!) will put all non-pink people in concentration camps and then deport them all.
Wha?! Where are we supposed to go? Home? We are already here. Yooz go home, I’ll organize a few boats to Europe like how your ancestors got here, just rude and desperate with no invitations. As far as I’m concerned the only good yooz brought to Turtle Island is domestic cats. I love my Fuzz-Butz.
But I digress. Ahem! This election season has been very intense to put it lightly. Being a follower of news stories, breaking or not, has aged me because I live in a country where some of the citizens are in a cult. In my opinion most are beyond redemption. Don’t bother with them and go about your own way and stay out of their crosshairs.
Let them fight amongst themselves. Hah! We shall remain. Much love to All stay somewhat sane.–
