Dakota Sacred Hoop Walk
Experience the Dakota Sacred Hoop Walk, an immersive augmented reality art exhibition by Marlena Myles, a Spirit Lake Dakota artist. Located at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the walk begins in the Harrison Sculpture Garden and features five stops, each offering digital images and audio narratives that honor Dakota history, culture, and the significance of the land. Visitors are guided by Wohpe, the Dakota spirit of peace and harmony, through a half-mile journey that connects art, storytelling, and nature. Open during regular Arboretum hours. Included with general admission ($20–$25 for non-members ages 16 and older; free for members and children 15 and under). Creation.Story
Creation.Story is an art exhibition that centers on the significance of creative expressions and oral traditions amongst Očhéthi Šakówin cultures. Multiple artists representing their Očhéthi Šakówin heritage provide visual artworks and creative concepts to engage audiences with the expansive creation narratives that underlie Očhéthi Šakówin identity and values. Creation.Story is a traveling exhibition co-curated by Keith BraveHeart and David Meyer (Akta Lakota Museum). In addition to the original curators, each venue works with roster artists as co-curators for their location. Jaida Grey Eagle, Kylie Wanatee-Thunderhawk, and Mikayla Patton are the co-curators working with All My Relations. Annual Lower Sioux Wacipi
The Lower Sioux Indian Community invites all to the 47th Annual Cansayapi Wacipi, a three-day Dakota cultural celebration featuring traditional dancing, drumming, honoring ceremonies, and community meals. Daily flag raisings occur at 10:00 AM, with Grand Entries scheduled for Friday at 7:00 PM, Saturday at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and Sunday at 1:00 PM. Friday: 7:00 PM. Saturday: 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The Hands Off Coalition of Indivisible Twin Cities, MN 50501, Women’s March MN, and the AFL-CIO MN are organizing the Twin Cities metro area event on June 14. 11:00 AM: Gather together at St. Paul College before the march at 235 Marshall Ave, St Paul. 12:00 PM: March with us from St. Paul College to the MN State Capitol. 1 PM:  Rally on the MN State Capitol Mall. From inspiring speakers, to bands and activities for all ages, we’ll be gathering with neighbors to say NO KINGS. In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. Traditional Crafting Group
Join the American Indian Family Center’s Traditional Crafting Group for a welcoming, hands-on session open to all community members. Held every Thursday, this group offers a space to work on personal craft projects or explore new ones using AIFC’s provided supplies. Facilitated by Sasina Samreth (White Earth Nation), an experienced beader and AIFC’s Treatment Coordinator, the group fosters cultural connection, skill-sharing, and creativity in a supportive environment. 7th Annual Leech Lake Days Contest Powwow
The Leech Lake Days Contest Powwow is a major Ojibwe gathering featuring contest dancing and cultural celebrations. Hosted by the Leech Lake Powwow Committee, this event includes grand entries, dance contests, and community engagement. The powwow is open to the public and welcomes all to attend. Join the American Indian Family Center’s Father & Men’s Outreach Specialist, Nate Bordeaux, for an in-person Men’s Smudge and Support Group. This gathering offers a space for American Indian men to explore their identity, participate in cultural practices, and support one another. 4th Annual Two Spirit Powwow
Join New Native Theatre for the 4th Annual Reclaiming Our Identities Two Spirit Powwow, Minnesota’s only powwow honoring Native Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ relatives. This free, family-friendly event features dancing, drumming, regalia, craft vendors, and a community feast, creating a sacred space for visibility, culture, and love. Women & Mother’s Group: Wakanyeja Kin Wakan Pi
Wakanyeja Kin Wakan Pi (Our Children Are Sacred) is a culturally grounded support group for women who are pregnant or parenting children 13 months or younger. Hosted by the American Indian Family Center, this group offers a space to connect with other mothers and learn about parenting in a way that honors cultural traditions and beliefs. Participants can access resources and baby supplies such as bottles, diapers, car seats, and Pack ‘n Plays. Additional services include parent education on infant safety and health, nutrition and prenatal education, home visits, and case management. 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Indigenous Mayor’s Forum
Join Make Voting a Tradition and co-sponsors American Indian OIC, Indian Health Board, Community Power, and Vote Climate for a Native Mayoral Forum focused on Indigenous leadership and climate equity in Minneapolis. The event includes a Q&A session with mayoral candidates from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a meet-and-greet. Pow Wow Grounds food trucks will be on-site. The forum will be held in person, livestreamed, and recorded for later viewing by MCN6 TV. Cobelle Indian Trust Settlement
Heirs of Native Americans whose trust funds were mismanaged by the federal government have until June 30 to file a claim in a historic $3.4 billion class-action settlement. The lawsuit, Cobell v. Salazar, accused the federal government of failing to properly manage Individual Indian Money (IIM) trust accounts, land, and other assets held in trust for Native American individuals. Cultural & Ethnic Studies Grant Opportunity
The Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC), with funding from the Minnesota Legislature, is accepting applications for a $500,000 Cultural & Ethnic Studies grant. This opportunity is open to individuals and organizations creating Cultural & Ethnic Studies materials that support Minnesota K-12 students from underrepresented communities without a formal writing system and are primarily orally based. Eligible communities include—but are not limited to—Hmong, Karen, Somali, and Oromo cultures. Applicants may request up to $472,500, and funding is available through June 30, 2026. Native American Food Truck Festival
Celebrate Minnesota’s first Native American Food Truck Festival at Harriet Island Regional Park in Saint Paul. This family-friendly event features a diverse lineup of Native-owned and co-owned food trucks offering traditional Indigenous dishes and contemporary fusion cuisine. Enjoy live music, games, cultural vendors, and community resource booths throughout the day. Food trucks include Trickster Tacos, Pow Wow Grounds, Indigenous Food Lab, Wanna Wotapi, Unci’s Prairie Sweets, OG ZaZa Pizza Trailer, Wacky Wing Wagon, Chicks on Wheels, Mercy’s Tacos, Melissa’s Frybread, and more.
