Children at the American Indian Magnet School (AIMS) in St. Paul have a new playground thanks to Minnesota Vikings players and coaches, volunteers, and representatives from Toro (a provider of outdoor maintenance products for home and commercial landscapes.)

The new playground was completed on June 8 in collaboration with KaBOOM!, an organization that brings together businesses and communities to build playgrounds, skateparks, sports fields and ice rinks. The cost of the playground was split between the Vikings and Toro.

The day’s activities included the viking staff and players visiting classrooms, assisting with a themed mural, and building the playground – which included spreading mulch, pouring cement, laiding sod, planting trees and completing the mural.

The day ended with a ceremony in front of the new playground. KFAN radio personality Henry Lake emceed the event, which included speeches by AIMS Principal Brenda Peltier, Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress, and World Cultures Magnet School Principal Mary Weyandt, among others.
