Founded in 1980 as an in-house publication of the Minneapolis American Indian Center, The Circle News grew into one of the longest-running independent, non-tribally-owned Native American newspapers in the United States and the only independent Native newspaper in Minnesota. In 2026, The Circle is relaunching as a digitally native news organization with expanded national reach.
