The Indian Health Board of Minneapolis (IHB) celebrated Native Youth Day on August 4th, welcoming families from across the Twin Cities for a day focused on health, culture, and community before the start of the school year.
Founded in 1971, the Indian Health Board of Minneapolis has served the urban Native community for more than five decades. Today, the organization provides a wide range of services, including medical and dental care, counseling and support, recovery services, pharmacy services, pregnancy and children’s care, and Indigenous traditional health services.
As IHB continues to expand its impact, construction is underway on the new Menaandawiwe Wellness Campus, an Indigenous-first-designed facility scheduled to open for patient services on September 22nd, 2026. Developed in partnership with DSGW Architects and Woodstone Inc., the campus will bring medical, dental, behavioral health, recovery, and traditional healing services together in one location. The new facility is designed to integrate Western medicine with Indigenous wellness practices while creating a culturally welcoming space for the community. A grand opening celebration is planned for May 1st, 2027.
Community members are also invited to upcoming IHB events, including Women’s Health Day on August 11th, located at the Indian Health Board Medical Clinic, and the 3rd Annual Elders Brain Health Gathering on August 27th.
