Ona Kingbird was honored by the community on July 7 at the Minneapolis American Indian Center. A spaghetti dinner was served and live entertainment was performed by Native musicians including Red Ponie. Organizers for the event say Kingbird is being honored for sharing her knowledge of Ojibwe language, history and culture with the community. She has been a teacher and friend to many throughout the years.
